Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare mic that only pops up once in a blue moon. This is an ultra sophisticated (and very expensive for the time) Electro Voice cardioid dynamic 667A microphone made in 1984 as shown on the serial number and made in Buchanan, Michigan. It comes with the original (hard to find) shock mount shown. If you like the sound of the PL-10 & 20 or RE-20 and RE-320 then you'll absolutely love this 667A. It was a very high end studio mic with uber strong sound and will hold it's own against any other quality studio dynamic cardioid mic.
Do EV RE20s have serial numbers? If so, which one, and how can it be used to uniquely identify the mic if the serial isn't on the mic itself? Jump to Electro Voice Mic. Chokes 649 Electro Voice (EV) Audio speakers 830 Triad Transformers, Chokes 1098 Pyle Audio speakers Serial Number:.
This thing is an absolute gem. These mics rarely come around on Ebay. I thought they were only made for the few years but I now know they had about a 20 year production run. This is only the third 667A I have ever personally come across and they are quite unique. It's similar to the 668 model but was slightly less expensive as it has a couple less options in the adjustments. This microphone has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. The signal strength is 100% and sounds excellent.set at Low impedance currently but it has multiple adjustments for high, medium and low Z.
It also has adjustable directional adjustments and everything works excellent. I don't have the owners manual so the some of the adjustments are a little unusual to me but it's all there to be seen in pic # 9. Merely move the pins around for any setting you need. It has a warm, rich tone on the lower Z setting and is excellent for broadcasting and singing. A superb microphone all around.
The mesh screen is nice too with a few spots of worn paint but no deformation. I added a new front inner foam end screen as the original was all but deteriorated.
The pastel green has extremely lite wear in the form of scuffs and scratches. The E.V label is completely legible and very nice.I finally got a catalog with basic info on the mic as seen in pic # 13. It used for professional / studio applications. The 667A was for folks with deep pockets.
You just aren't going to see many of these around. It's like a more sophisticated version of the popular and newer RE-20 and has 10 times more character. This 667A is only going to go up in value as the years go by.The mic has a permanently attached 2 foot cable with a male Switchcraft XLR cable end connector. You'll just have to attach a longer XLR cable depending on your needs.
The 667A fits perfectly in the large, original shock mount provided. The 667A can be hung from a boom stand if needed but the shock mount can also sit right on top of a regular desk or floor stand as seen in pic # 10 & 11.The model number of this E.V shock mount is the 307 I believe though there is no visible markings. It's in great condition and does a perfect job suspending the mic as it should.
Very little cosmetic wear and an awesome original accessory to have for this mic. It gives you any angle you need and you can tighten the mic in place if needed. It has the 4 original rubber pieces and they work just fine. They are still pliable and do the job perfectly.Overall this mic is physically a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. Very nice for a 40 + years old. Mic was very well taken care of and should last another 100 years if properly stored. If you demand one of the rarest of E.V mics with an amazing studio sound.look no further.MICROPHONE STAND AND BOOM ARM SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE.USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLYAs with all my vintage microphones for sale.I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.

Erik tests them all, measures the signal, cleans, and if needed, he has the technical mastery needed to restore mics. I also appreciate his transparency. Every Mic where restored the microphone by adding new foam etc.
He details any modifications or enhancements in the listing and therefore his assessment of condition. I trust his assessment of condition and have never been disappointed.Richard K.
